Breakfast reading-celebrating my birthday and #24in48 today. Starting off with the James White Alien Emergencies Omnibus, currently reading through Sector General. It was a slow start-the little chicks were in high form today, so I've gotten 40 minutes of reading in so far. I'll be updating on this blog post as well as on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter throughout the weekend. Stay tuned!
I took a break in the reading to take the little chicks (and Daddy) to the library, and to go to a local antique store to pick out my birthday gift-I settled on a Currier and Ives tea set. Then it was back home for more reading! The littler chick wanted to play outside, so I joined her and read on the porch while she used their swings as a jungle gym.
326 pages in roughly six hours, with periodic interruptions for library trips, errands, and various and sundry needs of the little chicks, such as feeding and high level negotiation of interpersonal conflicts. Will be continuing with a personal favorite for 16 years-Spindle's End by Robin McKinley.
4:30 pm 1/22/17- 5 hours, 14 minutes to complete Spindle's End, with various pauses for doggy attention, a visit from my sister in law and nephew (who is working on walking and exploring), and sleep. Total thus far: 11 hours, 17 minutes. Up next: Rose Daughter!
