- Cooler Weather. Those of you who know me may think it a bit odd that I like cooler weather, but I like wearing layers, I like the crispness in the air that comes with cooler weather, I love the colors of fall leaves, and I absolutely love curling up with a new book or a well loved book on a cool evening with a warm blanket and a cup of tea.
- Small press and independently printed books. Small presses like Monroe St. Press and Poisoned Pen Press can focus on one specific type of book more easily, and you are more likely to find unusual books or reprinting of older books (for example, Monroe St. Press focuses solely on printing and reviving Victorian fiction from Victorian authors).
- Networking and connecting with other small business owners. It may not seem like much, but being able to throw around ideas, advice, and an "I've been there" with others who are in the same rocky boat that you're in can take some stress off your shoulders, especially when things aren't going quite as well as you'd hoped (the story of the early years of business ownership, unfortunately).
- Digging my hands into a brand new yarn and daydreaming about what I'm going to do with it. In my (oh so copious) free time I am either reading or crocheting. Crocheting has a wonderful rhythm to it that lets me turn off the parts of my brain that don't want to settle down, that keep coming up with new ideas and things to do, and this allows me to relax for a bit and unwind my mind.
It's been a long day of sorting and stacking and organizing, but I'm done with all of that, and so I can sit and relax for a bit. I had a lot of fun last time I shared some of my favorite things, so I'm going to do it again (I have lots of favorite things)
